About Panoptical Dashboard

We live in a new participatory panopticon. Everyone can see everyone. We now experience the world as a community connected. And for the most part, we do it by choice if not by default. No longer is our world too large for us to personally witness the living globe in it’s entirety.

And what is more, for the first time ever, it is now possible for us to see a God’s Eye View in real time, without leaving our computers.

But will this panopticon turn out to be a totalizing dystopia? Will data surveillance tools determine our future? We should indeed question the social, political and moral implications. Will the Internet turn into a massive electronic surveillance control machine? Will intelligent video using record-linkage or data-matching violate our rights to privacy? Government, police, security, journalists, employers and the public at large are summoned to discuss the length and breadth to which video monitoring is acceptable.
